Safety on Vinted: COVID-19

Your safety has always been our priority — thus, we encourage you to learn more about how to stay safe during COVID-19 while trading on Vinted.

General safety advice

Check your local government guidelines regularly to stay up-to-date with movement restrictions and other safety measures, which may also apply to claiming and dropping off parcels.

Be aware that fines or other penalties may apply to people who don’t follow these guidelines.

Additionally, practice the safety precautions suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) and see their Q&A for specific information.

Buying and selling safely

Here’s how you can stay safe and protect others while buying or selling on Vinted:

  • Use contactless delivery where possible. Stay at least 1 metre away from others and wear a protective face mask when in public, whatever your delivery method is.
  • If you feel at all unwell, stay at home. Don’t go to the pick-up / drop-off point. Both the seller and buyer may cancel the order if they’re unable to send or pick it up. You won’t receive auto-negative feedback if you select a COVID-19 related reason for cancellation.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds when you get home from the pick-up / drop-off point.
  • Wash the item before sending or wearing/using it.
Note

The content above is based on the information publicly posted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While these are trusted sources, we can’t guarantee their accuracy or reliability.

Additionally, we strongly advise that you buy and sell items only within the Vinted payment system. When purchasing items, please use the “Buy now” button and choose a secure payment method.

Information security advice

We’re taking extra care to detect scams on Vinted and maximise your protection.

Regardless, please be aware of phishing and malware scams related to COVID-19 that are trying to take advantage of the fears surrounding the coronavirus.

Here’s how to recognise malicious activities — help us ensure safety on Vinted by reporting such cases.

Important

If you’ve disclosed your personal details to another Vinted member and think you may have been scammed, make sure to take immediate action against online attacks.

Additionally, please consider the following precautions when receiving coronavirus-related emails or messages:

  • Use common sense — be skeptical of emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), or experts saying they have information about the virus.
  • Be careful when getting a COVID-19 related call for action. Government officials don’t use the Vinted platform to share the information about the virus.
  • Don’t enter personal data or passwords on suspicious websites, especially if they’re mentioned in unsolicited emails.
  • Don’t open unexpected attachments or click suspicious links.
  • Use only official Vinted communication channels and payment services. Do not leave the Vinted app for any kind of activities that are not directly related to the service.
  • Ignore unsolicited requests for information or actions.
