Describing an item
A detailed description makes your listing easier to find and more appealing to buyers. Follow these tips to increase your chances of selling faster.
Item’s title
To create a descriptive title:
- Include specific details about the item (e.g. its brand, colour, type, or unique features)
- Avoid words that don’t specify how your item is different (e.g. ‘nice’, ‘pretty’, or ‘good’)
For example:
Prefer: New pink Zara mini evening dress
Avoid: Very nice dress
Detailed description
Always provide accurate and detailed information in the listing description so buyers can decide whether the item is right for them. Don’t leave out any important details.
ImportantIf your item has any flaws, make sure to detail them in the listing, and show them in the photos so potential buyers know.
Buyers can request to return an item if they think it’s significantly different from the listing, so honesty is the best policy.
A detailed description should include information about:
- The item’s measurements
- Additional materials (besides the main 3 already selected when uploading)
- Any alterations, such as repairs or tailoring
- Absence of the brand label or other missing parts
- The item’s flaws, such as marks, stains, spots, holes, tears or rips, scratches, abrasions, fraying, pilling, creases, stretching, washed colour, or odours
Please don’t add unrelated brand names or hashtags to your listing description. We have to hide or delete such listings as part of our Catalogue Rules. Note that if you’ve used a paid feature (like a Bump or Wardrobe Spotlight) for a listing we’ve had to hide or delete, we won’t be able to refund you the cost of it.
